Demotivational Poster: Prohibition

Isn’t it ironic how people who want to prohibit guns also want to legalize marijuana? Or how people who want to prohibit marijuana also want to keep guns legal? Each group wants to prohibit one thing but legalize another.

The gun control crowd believes prohibiting guns will prevent violent crimes and murder, while the anti-drug crowd believes prohibiting drugs will prevent drug use and drug-related crime. But if both crowds bothered to learn their history, they would realize that prohibition had already been tried in this country. And it failed—miserably. Prohibiting liquor did nothing to prevent alcohol-related crime and everything to escalate it, as bootleggers smuggled liquor into the country and distributed it in gang-operated speakeasies. Conflict between gangs escalated, as did resulting crime, until prohibition was repealed and liquor was legalized.

They say those who forget their history are doomed to repeat it. Either the gun control/anti-drug crowd is ignorant or insane—for the very definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
