Demotivational Poster: Eco-Fascism
Before dismissing her class, a British schoolteacher advises her pupils on how they can help reduce global warming. When she asks how many are willing to follow her advice, most of the class raise their hands. As for the students who didn’t, the teacher presses a red button on her desk, and the children explode into a bloody, gory mess.
This is one of several commercials promoting 10:10, an environmental campaign, and they have created quite the controversy. In each commercial, someone tells a group of people (students, employees, soccer players) how they can help the environment. Anyone who disagrees gets blown to smithereens.
I can understand what the commercials are trying to convey: protecting the environment is a serious matter, and people who refuse to help are just aiding in the destruction. But to suggest that those who refuse to help need to die—even if it’s just a joke—is nothing short of putting a gun to people’s heads and exclaiming “join our cause or die!”
Of course, environmentalists (more notably the extreme ones) tend to have a dehumanizing view of their opponents—if not the entire human race. Here are some quotes from a few militant environmentalists:
• “Cannibalism is a radical but realistic solution to the problem of overpopulation.” - Lyall Watson
• “To feed a starving child is to exacerbate the world population problem.” – Lamont Cole
• “Phasing out the human race will solve every problem on Earth, social and environmental” – David Foreman
• “If I were re-incarnated, I would wish to return to earth as a killer virus to lower human population level.” – Prince Phillip
The worst part is that these commercials were funded with taxpayer money. In other words, the cartoon gun being placed to people’s heads was paid for with the money picked from their own pockets. Talk about irony!
