Demotivational Poster: Rivoli Revue
Let me start by saying that I can’t stand country music. However, I will make an exception for Ron and Kay Rivoli—otherwise known as Rivoli Revue.
Having toured with the Tea Party Express and performed for the 9/12 Rally, this duet proves that protest songs aren’t just for liberal hippie douchebags, nor are they restrained to Bob Dylan folk songs. Their songs not only speak out against the current administration through music, but also embolden a spirit of patriotism—praising American values such as courage, liberty, and unity. Their songs have become increasingly popular both in the mainstream—having been featured by Mike Huckabee and Glenn Beck—and on the internet—their premiere YouTube music video Press One For English receiving over 13 million views.
Personally, I find some of their lyrics to be rather trite (“We got immigration laws in this country after all/What part of the word ‘illegal’ don’t they understand?”), their rhymes forced (“Liberties” with “English”), and annunciations pure redneck (“Eehnglish is my languish”). But I’ll be damned if their message doesn’t make you feel proud to be an American and unashamed to stand against Obama and his cronies—well, unless you’re a liberal tool who’s drank the Obama Kool-Aid.
