Failure of Feminism

Feminism is the idea that we can make both sexes equal by focusing solely on the issues of one of them. - The Amazing Atheist

You have to feel sorry for feminists. They’re forced to live in a society where women have the right to vote, own property, attend school, run for office, work outside the home, and receive equal pay. Clearly their fellow women are still oppressed by the male-driven patriarchy!

The Amazing Atheist recently released the following video in which he eviscerates the feminist opinion that our “patriarchal” society favors men over women, giving several examples of how women are given preferential treatment.

Some of the examples he lists:
Domestic violence against men is nearly as common as domestic violence against women, but it's not taken seriously by the media and it's not prosecuted heavily by our courts.

• Men are not treated anywhere near fairly when it comes to child custody and child support.

• While female genital mutilation is abhorrent to western civilization, genital mutilation of boys is commonplace and rarely challenged.

Women are sentences to 40% less prison time than men for the same crimes.
In the end, he makes a very valid point: if we're to strive for equal rights among the sexes, then we must focus on the issues of both sexes, not one of them. "No one should be a feminist, nor should anyone start calling themselves something ridiculous like a masculinist. You can't be for the rights of one [sex] or the other. If you're truly for equality, you have to be for the rights of both."
