Aside from veteran smasher Captain Falcon, whose “Falcon Punch” is going to be making an epic comeback (and was there any doubt that it wasn’t?), Nintendo announced that it will be introducing—not one, not two, but three-and-a-half!—new characters from Fire Emblem in the upcoming new Super Smash Bros. game.
Both Lucina and Robin from Fire Emblem: Awakening will be bolstering the Fire Emblem character roster along with Marth and Ike. As an added bonus, Robin will be playable as both male and female. Chrom is also expected to make an appearance, though he will not be a playable character.
I never played Fire Emblem, so I’m not as psyched as a fan of the game would be over this news. However, a book-carrying spellcaster with an epic magic sword is always a plus in my book.
Another plus is how these new additions beef up the number of playable female characters. Super Smash Bros. has always been aptly named, as it’s mostly been a meatball and sausage fest with the exception of Peach, Zelda, and Samus. Now there are far more Super Smash “Sisters” to choose from with the Wii Fit Trainer, Rosalina, Palutena, Lucina, and Robin (and also with Sheik and Zero Suit Samus now being separate playable characters, and with the option to play as a female Villager)!
Now if they can only include Krystal from Star Fox. Screw Falco and Wolf. Bring the blue vixen into the fray!
