Hong Kong's "Let Them Eat Cake"

"The people starve because those above them eat too much tax-grain. That is the only reason why they starve." Those wise words are from the Chinese philosopher Lao Tsu, and they perfectly sum up how messed up the Chinese province of Hong Kong currently is.

Unless you've been living under a rock for the past few weeks, you'll realize that protesters are flooding the streets of Hong Kong. The reason for this is that the country's elite are a bunch of pricks.

“But the elite are pricks in every country,” I hear you say. “How is it any different in Hong Kong?”

Because you have elitist pricks saying stuff like this on Facebook:

Daily Mail

This is actually a beautiful necklace bought at Lane Crawford (yes- funded by all you HK taxpayers!! So are all my beautiful shoes and dresses and clutches!! Thank you so much!!!!) 'Actually, maybe I shouldn't say "all of you" - since most of you here are probably unemployed hence have all this time obsessed with bombarding me with messages.
Why do I get the feeling this is how Mary Antoinette would have shared her infamous “Let them eat cake!” line?

Anyway, the entitled bitch in that screenshot is Chai Yan Leung, daughter of Hong Kong’s Chief Executive Chun-Ying Leung. And yes, she’s boasting about how her diamond necklace was purchased with taxpayer money.

B-b-but without taxes, who would pay for the diamond necklaces for privileged twats? Taxes are the price we pay to live in civilization, and if you don’t want to pay your fair share, you should move to Somalia, you greedy Randian sociopath!
