The Usual “Do As I Say, Not As I Do!”

Last week, the DOJ revealed that the Ferguson police department was rife with racism and corruption, operating more like a profiteering racket and less like a law enforcement agency.

Well, it turns out that the DOJ also revealed something that adds a little bit more irony to the situation: the judge responsible for implementing hefty fines on citizens for the sake of generating revenue himself owes $170,000 in unpaid taxes:
The judge in Ferguson, Missouri, who is accused of fixing traffic tickets for himself and colleagues while inflicting a punishing regime of fines and fees on the city’s residents, also owes more than $170,000 in unpaid taxes.

Ronald J Brockmeyer, whose court allegedly jailed impoverished defendants unable to pay fines of a few hundred dollars, has a string of outstanding debts to the US government dating back to 2007, according to tax filings obtained by the Guardian from authorities in Missouri.
A judge who heavily fined residents for the sake of profit owes heavily in unpaid taxes?

That’s just as unbelievable as an anti-gun politician being caught smuggling guns.

Or an anti-gay politician being caught having gay bathroom flings.

Or an anti-drug politician being caught smuggling tons of cocaine.

Or a pro-surveillance politician complaining that the CIA has been spying on her.

Or a pro-transparency politician being caught sending secret e-mails.

Or…pretty much every single hypocritical politician since the very first politician!

Remember: they’re only paid to enforce the laws on others, not on themselves, for they are above the law!
