Why Can’t More Drones Be Used For This?
When we talk about aerial drones, we often talk about the military type that are used to kill innocent civilians in the Middle East (and sometimes, they’re even American citizens). But drones aren’t just used for killing. Because of their unique flying abilities and technological capacities, they have the opportunity to take aerial photographs that most other aircraft are unable to replicate, and the end result is some of the most breathtaking aerial photography you’ll ever see.
Dronestagram is a photo-sharing social media platform that allows drone enthusiasts to share their aerial photographs with other drone users and the world. The website has since accumulated hundreds of these photographs, and most, if not all, of them provide a view of the world that we ground-dwelling humans rarely get to see, even from an airplane.
PolicyMic has showcased a few dozen of these photographs, but here is a select handful of my favorites:
Seriously, if I were President, I would recall all military drones and have them reformatted for taking such breathtaking photographs. If only we could use this technology to bring our fellow human beings together by showing us how wonderful our world is, rather than divide us by killing one another.
