Nightly Frights: Danse Macabre

I remember when my music teacher showed my first grade class this video during Halloween. I’m not sure what made her think that an animated music video about spooky scare skeletons that send shivers down your spine would be appropriate for little kids, but to this day, it’s an experience that I vividly remember.

And in case you’re wondering, the song in this video is “Danse Macabre” by Camille Saint-Saëns. It’s a classical piece that depicts in music (and in this case, animation) how the dead rise from their graves once ever Halloween and dance to the music of Death’s violin (which, if the “Devil Went Down To Georgia” is any indicator, must be made of pure gold.)
