Nightly Frights: There's A Man In The Woods
And now we shift from abject horror to psychological horror. Instead of scary stories about ghosts or zombies, we have a little kid telling his classmates an "innocent" story about a man in the woods. But is it really innocent? It can hardly be so if it causes a teacher to lose his reputation, his job, and inevitably, his own sanity.
What I love about this visual poem is how the narration intensifies to mirror the narrator’s increasing stress up until his inevitable breaking point—and man, does he really break! Let this be a warning, kids: don’t spread rumors, they may come blow up in your face—literally. Quite literally!
