Throwback Thursday: Do You Love Me?
Since Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, I've decided to share something Valentine-related. My original intent was to share the Tiny Toons episode “Love Among The Toons”.
The episode has Cupid (played by Elmer Fudd) confer his bow and arrow to dimwitted Concord Condor, who in turn goes around hooking up polar opposites as couples—the least of which is Babs Bunny and antagonist Montana Max, much to the displeasure of Buster Bunny.
Sadly, I could not find the full episode on YouTube or any video streaming website. So my Plan B is to share this music video of “Do You Love Me”:
This musical short was one of several featured in the episodes "Tiny Toon Music Television" and "Toon TV", both of which were themed after MTV (which, back then, actually played music videos!) and showcased shorts styled after music videos. Most of the shorts were based off of old rock and roll songs such as this, but a rare few had current music (for 1990, at least).
Most famously, these episodes featured musical shorts based upon “Istanbul Not Constantinople” and “Particle Man” by They May Be Giants, which helped introduce 90s kids such as myself to these talented musicians and their work. Honestly, I should feature those shorts in a future Throwback Thursday.
