Recently, for my Statist and Anarchist series, I created a comic on anti-vaxxers, which managed to draw the ire of several anti-vaxxers who insisted that vaccines were "teh ebil." The whole debacle reminded me of the Penn Teller: BS episode on vaccinations. Sadly, that episode is no longer on YouTube, but what is on there is their epic opening skit to that episode:
So, yes, even if vaccines did cause autism—which they f***ing don’t!—one kid with autism out of hundreds vaccinated would be preferable to the countless children dead from preventable diseases without vaccines.
Did I mention how much I love Penn and Teller? Aside from John Stossel, their show was the gateway drug towards libertarianism for me. I really admired how their show used pure skepticism to cut through the BS—both political and pseudo-scientific—that far too many people take for granted. Such a shame that such a great show ended too soon. We need it now more than ever.
Oh well! At least we have Adam Ruins Everything almost as a spiritual successor.
