SpaceX Successfully Launches Satellite
As always, amidst all the noise about Donald Trump and his incompetent administration, there's some good news about Elon Musk and his sheer awesomeness. This time, SpaceX has successfully launched a commercial satellite into orbit.
The satellite in question is a EchoStar communications satellite, and is one of countless that SpaceX wishes to put into orbit in an effort to create a satellite system that will provide fast internet access, with greater speeds and lower latency than existing satellite networks.
This is by no means the first satellite that SpaceX has launched (as that milestone was back in 2013), but it certainly serves as further proof that SpaceX has the capability to put action behind Musk's words and further his dreams of private space travel.
This week: a satellite around the earth. Next year: a pair of space tourists around the moon. And in coming years, we'll finally get to see the first human being set foot on Mars! The public sector may have taken us to the moon, but the private sector will take us to Mars!
